Assistant Principal's Message
 

Mrs. Mitchell serves as the Assistant Principal at Lorraine Elementary, bringing 11 years of experience in education and a deep commitment to student growth. She joined Lorraine in 2021, and since then has been a steady, passionate advocate for both academic excellence and social‑emotional development. Mrs. Mitchell firmly believes that all children can learn and thrive—academically, emotionally, and socially—when they are supported, encouraged, and surrounded by a strong community. She often emphasizes that it takes a village, and she is grateful to be part of this village.

She earned her undergraduate degree from St. Joseph’s College in New York and completed her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction at Columbus State University. Her professional work reflects a strong focus on whole‑child development. At Sims Elementary, she developed and implemented a Tier 1 and Tier 2 Social Emotional Learning program for at‑risk scholars, resulting in increased academic achievement and decreased behavior infractions. She has since reinstated a similar SEL program at Lorraine to continue supporting students’ emotional well‑being and academic success.

Her dedication to education has been recognized through several honors, including being referred and selected for Governor Deal’s Teacher Coop in 2016, a program designed to retain highly qualified educators and strengthen student achievement. Earlier in her academic journey, she was named to Who’s Who Among University and College Students (2006) and Who’s Who Among High School Students (1995).

Mrs. Mitchell is known for her passion for teaching, her belief in the potential of every child, and her commitment to creating a supportive, nurturing environment where students feel valued and empowered to grow.  She looks forward to continuing to serve Lorraine families.
